Ainslie Wood and Larks Wood Nature Trails

The group has created nature trails in both Ainslie and Larks Woods and a booklet which accompanies each of the trails can be found in Hale End, North Chingford and South Chingford Libraries, E.4. (free of charge). Part of the trail in Larks Wood is suitable for wheelchairs/pushchairs as it follows a tarmac path.

A number of nestboxes, which were made by members of the group, can be seen on the trails. Most of the boxes are regularly occupied by blue tits and great tits and occasionally a squirrel who has enlarged the entrance hole! We also erected an owl box in Larks Wood and several bat boxes in both woods but we are not certain if these are occupied or not.

A member of the group will be leading a walk in Larkswood on Sunday 7th November 2010. Children welcome if supervised by an adult and well-behaved dogs. Part of the walk is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Start time: 10.00 am
Meet: Larkswood Recreation Ground, Normanshire Drive entrance,
Chingford, E.4.
