Pitts Wood has been developed as one of the first Forest Schools in Birmingham. The programmes are led by Quinton Outreach Ranger, Chris Wishart, who is a qualified Forest School Leader.
Forest School involves long term programmes of child-led education sessions in a natural environment. It supports all round child development by allowing children to explore freely and find natural materials to build and create, using practical skills and imagination.
Our latest project is to introduce local volunteers to Forest School by running OCN Entry Level Forest School training. This has been funded by Community Network South West targetting people who are out of work with a view to helping them into employment or further education. The training involves learning about woodland ecosystems, using tools and personal development. See what's on for details of the course.
